Goulburn trainer Danny Williams is confident he has the right horses for Saturday’s $40,000 TAB Highway Handicap at Randwick.
Williams nominated Shutter Bug, La Bella Rouge and promising three-year-old Invincible Quest but will not accept with the latter.
Williams said Shutter Bug, with Blake Shinn set to ride, is the pick of the two.
“Both of them will be very competitive and that Goulburn form will hold up,” he said.“I actually put La Belle Rouge in front of Shutter Bug before their last race but when she missed the start it was there for Shutter Bug to win.”
Williams said Shutter Bug had the better turn of foot of the pair and is racing the four-year-old La Bella Rouge on Saturday because the meeting is at Randwick.“La Belle Rouge is to be ridden quietly and will be better at Randwick, no doubt. The bigger track will be right up her ally,” he said.
“Her form should read better than it does because she’s been unlucky and has run into a few wet tracks.””Williams will resist running promising colt Invincible Quest after he was impressive on debut at the Goulburn Cup meeting on November 22.
The I Am Invincible three-year-old showed plenty of class and greenness after missing the start before swamping the field to win by 2.5 lengths in good time.He is also nominated for the 3YO Plate on Saturday’s Randwick program but may also bypass that race.
“I query whether or not he’s seasoned enough to race at this level at the moment and I don’t think he’ll get a start in the Highway race,” Williams said.“He’s just doing a bit wrong and he won’t be suited at the weights in the Plate so we might wait another day but his debut win was very impressive.”
