Arabian Gold was heading to the paddock after disappointing trainer David Vandyke with her last start ninth in the G2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on April 25.

However Arabian Gold, a multiple G2 and G3 winner and G1 placed in the Queensland Oaks, did so well after returning from Queensland that Vandyke has decided to keep her going or Saturday’s Listed race over 2000m.

"She was going to the paddock but we worked her after a couple of she got home and she is fine and bouncing around.“ Vandyke reported. “This race gives her the chance to get back to winning form."

Arabian Gold heads the 23 nominations for the Lord Mayor’s Cup with the highest handicap rating of 105, four points clear of Bagman.

Bagman is among eight Lord Mayor’s Cup entries from the Chris Waller stable, made up of Black Jag, Intimate Moment, Loophole, Our Voodoo Prince, Silverball, Telepathic and Vilanova.

Kevin Moses is keen on the chances of his improvinjg 4YO Singling Flame in the Lord Mayor’s Cup but like many trainers is going to face a dilemma securing senior jockeys for this meeting with many top riders heading to Brisbane.

The Sydney jockeys booked for rides at the BTC Cup meeting at Doomben include Tommy Berry, Blake Shinn, Hugh Bowman, Tye Angland, Brenton Avdulla and Glyn Schofield.

Avdulla had the mount on Singing Flame at his last start when he finished third behind Gypsy Diamond and subsequent Hollindale Stakes winner Leebaz in the JRA Plate at Randwick on April 18.

Godolphin trainer John O’Shea may also send James McDonald to Brisbane to ride Knoydart and Sampeah in Group features at Doomben despite having a big team led by Federal (Hawkesbury Guineas) and Malice (Lord Mayor’s Cup) entered or Rosehill.

O’Shea plans to run all the Godolphin horses that missed starts due to the Hawkesbury washout in races at Rosehill on Saturday.
