This Irish galloper had a quiet start to the year when the legendary Aidan O’Brien had a virus go through the team but once clear of that, he came good winning a Group 3 at the Curragh.

He is in the same crop at the likes of Cracksman, Benbatl, Capri and Rekindling but has taken more time and the Galileo bloodlines will take him a long way in this race.

His Herbert Power win was utterly arrogant and dominant and if he runs that well here with 54.5kg on his back, he is the one to beat.

James McDonald got some confidence with a Group 1 on Saturday and won’t get a better chance to win a Melbourne Cup. The odds are just getting more succulent as each hour passes too.

The luck of the Irish was to the fore last year with the trifecta and Aidan O’Brien can go one better in this year’s 158th Edition.
