Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Rosehill Race 1 - 2 Calculated
Impressive So You Think colt who will have taken plenty of benefit from soft first up win over 1200m at Canterbury on July 5. Heading for bigger thjngs and will relish stepping up to 1400m on his home track.
Rosehill Race 6 - 11 Sir Plush
Returned from a spell in excellent form to beat Badajoz over 1100m at Rosehill on June 17 before he was run down by the classy Calanda over same course and distance on July 1.
Calanda underlined the quality of that form by winning this week’s Ramornie Handicap at Grafton and Sir Plush can do the same here with benefit of a handy drop in weight on his favourite track.
No doubt he should have won his latest start over 1500m at this course on July 1 when he finished a close third after enduring tough run sitting three deep outside the pace under 60.5kg.
Strong winner at Canterbury at his previous start and will get every chance to bounce back here from favourable inside draw on a much firmer track.
Chris’ final observations and full audio preview of all Sydney races will be available after 9.30am Saturday on the R&S website and tweeted by @ScholtzRacing.
