Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Rosehill Race 5 - 6 Asinara

Quality mare is well placed to produce a bold showing first-up after two strong trials, especially her most recent at Rosehill when she had plenty in hand finishing an impressive second.

She won over this course and distance last season before stepping up to Group company in the autumn, including a G3 placing behind Single Gaze and Dixie Blossoms and a fourth in the G3 Packer Plate. It’s strong form for this class.

Rosehill Race 8 - 4 Rillito

Winning sequence came to an end under the lights at Canterbury eight days ago when she left her run too late over 1100m after her rider perhaps overdid patient tactics trying to come from last.

She holds ample scope to improve off that effort and no doubt she will appreciate this extra trip with several rivals setting up a strong pace to suit her run on style.

Rosehill Race 9 - 8 Perfect Dare

The strong Matt Dunn stable has found a suitable Sydney race to fit this promising 4YO, who has been set up for a bold first-up showing off a soft Deagon barrier trial in Brisbane.

Boast some strong credentials as he was just knocked off twice in similar Benchmark events at Rosehill last season before matching top class 3YOs such as Counterattack and Takedown in Group races at the Brisbane carnival.

He’s won two of his three first-up runs and should get an ideal drag into this race from his inside gate.
