Schiffer looks ready to rumble
NEW SOUTH WALES
SR 2: Winning trial form may not necessarily be the obvious lead here as several youngsters looked good when given easy tasks in their recent heats. (9) INVENTIVE was hard held and could have beaten (5) BANANA BENDER when they met in a 900m trial at Rosehill on 8 July and (8) GREEN BERET had plenty to offer running home under a grip when fourth in his trial at Warwick Farm. (11) TIDALZONE was sharp beating a green (6) BARBADOS in their Rosehill trial on 8 July and looks talented as he ran much faster time than Banana Bender's heat on the same day.
SR 3: (1) SCHIFFER stamped her class on a Hawkesbury trial over 760m on 11 July when she sat behind the leader and accelerated quickly when called on to run away to a soft win. (2) AL'S MAGIC MISS ran to the line well when second in a Rosehill trial on 28 June while (5) CHAMPALOU was only asked to put in late when hitting the line strongly for fifth in her Rosehill heat on 8 July. Both bear watching. (10) BLUE RUBY was checked and could have finished closer than third in her Warwick Farm trial on 5 July.
VICTORIA
MR 1-5 SO NONCHALANT (Jason Warren): From an in form yard, the filly was second in a recent Cranbourne trial and has already won in town at the Valley. Things didn't go right last start before a spell and she might be better this time in.
QUEENSLAND
BR 6-1 AGE OF HEROES (Alan Bailey): He will be an interesting one to watch in terms of the market and parade for this Open Handicap. Usually a very good trialler, he was 7th at Gold Coast but he does need good ground to show his best and loves pace so wait for the pointers.
BR 6-7 KORANOVSKY (Tony Gollan): Finally gets to the races after being in a few times. Trialled about as well as normal when fourth at Toowoomba and she comes off a top end to her last preparation when winning regularly.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
AR 2-6 SPIRIT LINE (Phillip Stokes): Filly by USA sire Artie Schiller making her debut. Was a Gawler trial winner earlier this month and will carry no weight after the claim for debut on home track. Expected to run a cheeky race.
