Kyprios gets "his" Cup back

It's been quite a journey but he did it.

Kyprios not only recovered from a career-threatening injury he came back to top form and won back the Gold Cup, a very rare feat, for the delighted Coolmore team.  And it was a great race with a thrilling duel between the winner and his nemesis Trawlerman with not much in it at the end although Ryan Moore had been able to extract that little bit extra out of Kyprios.  There was also a tight go for the third spot between 5 horses and that went to Sweet William (the object of a small plunge pre-race) who got third and Vauban fourth.

The day didn't start that well for Coolmore nor for us as Whistlejacket could only manage 4th in the Norfolk.  That went to Shareholder with Karl Burke and James Doyle again winning the opening race.  Our roughie Tropical Storm ran a top race for second and held out Arizona Blaze by a head and the gorgeous Whistlejacket a short head away but 4th.

Coolomore and us got some compensation in the Ribblesdale which went to Port Fairy who was too strong in the end for the brave Lava Stream 20/1 and favourite Kalpana third.  Rubies are Red weakened and may prefer a shorter trip and Diamond Rain was never really in it – she had been blowing out in the market before the race and it was Kalpana who started favourite so there may have been some problem there.

The Hampton Court went to Jayarebe 7/1 for another winner for Brian Meehan and Sean Levey who finished ¼ length ahead of King's Gambit with Bellum Justum 1 ¼ lengths back in third and First Look fourth.
