A very busy Saturday in America

Things are hotting up including the weather and there is racing all over the place.

Del Mar is in action now and hosts the San Clemente Gr 2 over 1600m for the 3yo fillies with 12 to run.  We don't know much about these lassies but the Morning Line has Medora on 8/5 for Eurton-Fresu – she's by Honor Code.  Iscreamuscream is one of two d'Amato runners and this daughter of Twirling Candy is on 3/1 and will be ridden by Hector Berrios.  His other runner Zona Verde is one we like and is on 8/1 with J J Hernandez on board.

Over at Monmouth it's Haskell Stakes day with the Gr 1 feature being run over 1800m and at present there are 8 runners.  Todd Pletcher saddles three runners, two of whom are owned or part owned by Mike Repole – Mindframe and Fierceness – so it is a question of whether he will run them both or move one to another race next weekend.

Mindframe is on 9/5 and the son of Constitution will be ridden by Irad Ortiz.  Fierceness is on 5/2 with Plat riding .  Also on 5/2 is Dornach, the full brother to Mage and their sire Good Magic won this race.  We like him a lot but are leaning towards the third of the Pletcher runners in Tuscan Sky 9/2 by Vino Rosso and Javier Castellano had the ride.

Should one of the Repole runners come out you could add Timberlake 8/1 to the multliples.

Earlier the United Nations is Gr 2 over 2200m turf and is quite open with the current favourite being Far Bridge for Christophe Clement and JL Ortiz.  Webslinger is on 9/2 for Casse-Saez and Starting Over 6/1 for Maker-Camacho.

At Saratoga there's the Coaching Club American Oaks Gr 1 for 3yo fillies and only five runners – maybe because of the presence of Thorpedo Anna who is odds-on to win this for McPeek and Brian Hernandez.  The main challenger is Candied, a daughter of Candy Ride who is on 5/2 for Pletcher-Manny Franco.
