Sam King landed 25/1, 40,1 and 10/3 winners last week and is back with two selections on Tuesday…
Brighton 3.20 - Fighting Poet
The return to a better surface looks like a major plus for Fighting Poet, who should have every chance of regaining the winning thread at Brighton this afternoon.
Richard Phillips' six-year-old did well to get up late over a mile and a half here in August before finishing a solid third over the same course and distance on soft ground eight days ago. The conditions went against him on that occasion, but he still went short in running having looked like the most likely winner at the furlong pole.
The drop back to a mile and a quarter shouldn't pose too many issues and with leading apprentice Sean D Bowen booked to take off a valuable 3lb, he's effectively off the same mark as when scoring here last month.
Odds – 9/4
Yarmouth 2.35 – Dapper Guest
The opening nursery at Yarmouth looks particularly interesting. It's hardly surprising to see Brastias at the top of the market after what appeared to be an unlucky fourth-place finish on his handicap bow at Haydock twelve days ago.
However, with David O'Meara's charge taking a fair chunk out of the market, the value surely lies elsewhere. George Margarson is no stranger to winners at Yarmouth and his nursery debutant Dapper Guest could prove feasibly treated off an opening mark of 71.
The Dandy Man gelding showed up well when fifth in a warm six-furlong maiden here in July, with that contest throwing up plenty of winners. The seventh-placed horse is now rated 78, while the eighth-placed made a winning nursery debut at Wolverhampton recently. The ninth also caught the eye when fourth at Kempton last night.
He once again shaped encouragingly when fourth in a Newmarket novice event (winner now rated 108) last month. The step up to seven furlongs also looks sure to bring about further improvement and at a general 12/1, he looks worth chancing from an each-way angle.
Odds – 12/1
