Declarations for Newmarket’s stellar Saturday card have been revealed with the Cheveley Park, Middle Park, and Royal Lodge all featuring some high-class contenders
Thirteen two-year-old fillies will go to post for the Group 1 Cheveley Park with Aidan O'Brien doubly represented in his bid to record a record-breaking fifth success in the contest.
Cherry Blossom makes a quick turnaround just five days after bumping into the hugely impressive Paddy Twomey newcomer One Love in the valuable Goffs Million sales race at the Curragh. She's set to be joined by stablemate Pearls And Rubies, who drops back to six furlongs after finishing well held in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes earlier in the month.
William Haggas landed the Group 1 prize back in 2012 courtesy of Rosdhu Queen, and the Somerville Lodge-handler will be hoping his star juvenile filly Relief Rally can make the step up to Group 1 level following her success in the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes at York in August.
Christophe Soumillon makes the journey across the channel to partner French raider Jasna's Secret, who was recently purchased by Wathnan Racing. George Boughey will be hoping for further Newmarket Group 1 success as Soprano steps up in grade, while Porta Fortuna brings solid top-level form to the table after forcing a dead-heat for third in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh earlier this month.
Prix Morny fourth Sacred Angel returns to racing against her own sex with James Doyle in the plate for the first time and Persian Dreamer, who provided her trainer Dominic Ffrench Davis with his biggest career victory to date when taking out the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on the July Course, also features.
Nine juvenile colts are set to do battle in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes on the Rowley Mile with all eyes likely to be on the eagerly anticipated rematch between Vandeek and River Tiber.
Simon and Ed Crisford's Vandeek made it a perfect three from three with a narrow victory at Deauville in August, while River Tiber, who suffered an interrupted preparation heading into that Group 1 contest, will be bidding to reverse the form having finished back in third.
They'll be joined by Group 2 July Stakes winner Jasour. Clive Cox's charge disappointed in the aforementioned French Group 1 but could prove a different prospect back on a quicker surface while the unbeaten Task Force looks like a fascinating contender stepping up in standard for Juddmonte.
Elsewhere on the card, Capulet heads a nine-strong field in the Group 2 Royal Lodge as he takes on Charlie Appleby's Group 3 Solario Stakes scorer Aablan.
A full field of thirty-five have been declared for the bet365 Cambridgeshire (3.40), with long-time ante-post market leader Greek Order all set to be partnered by Oisin Murphy. Astro King tops the weights, while John & Thady Gosden's Saga, who will be ridden by Ryan Moore, will represent HM The King & HM The Queen.
