The evening meeting at Killarney on Wednesday features the Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes as part of an exciting eight-race caird.
In the 1m Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes (6:20), Paddy Twomey's Mea Domina will be aiming to record her first success for new connections, having not won since her double for former trainer Jerome Reynier in October when based in France. She has produced two strong efforts since her move to Ireland, including a second in the Group 3 Gladness Stakes at the Curragh over seven furlongs. The return to a mile is probably a positive and it will be interesting to see the four-year-old mare on a sounder surface than her two attempts on heavy ground for new connections. A tongue-tie is also applied for the first time.
Joseph O'Brien's Indian Wish wears first-time cheekpieces following a tenth in the Kensington Palace Fillies Handicap at Royal Ascot. The four-year-old filly is probably better judged on her win in the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park prior, which was a second success at Listed level. The daughter of Grey Gatsby is probably seen to best effect over a mile although she would have to reverse form with Mea Domina, having finished third behind her in the Listed Prix Isola Bella when trained in France for Henri-Alex Pantall.
Eternal Silence is difficult to judge on her current form, but the best of her performances should see her firmly in the mix. The Jessica Harrington-trained filly produced her best effort to date when placing third in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes as a juvenile but has taken a while to come to hand this year. Connections have given the daughter of War Front plenty of time and she rewarded them with a maiden success at Naas when scoring by eleven lengths. She's clearly improving and cannot be dismissed entirely.
WIN: MEA DOMINA
A small field lines up for the 1m Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race (5:20), which will be one of the first opportunities for the juveniles to try their hand over the mile. Paddy Twomey's Deepone heads the market after winning a seven-and-a-half-furlong Leopardstown maiden with apparent ease, despite a high draw. The Twomey yard has only sent out three runners in the past fourteen days, but two of those have won and it could be a good day for the team with Mea Domina in the Listed race as well.
Nor Time Nor Tide appears to be the only colt with a chance of beating Deepone, but it will be a tough ask for the son of Ten Sovereigns on debut. A half-brother to Listed winner Galleria Borghese, the Joseph O'Brien-trained colt hails from a family of Black Type performers over seven furlongs to a mile and could be a smart prospect.
