Sam King’s Horse Racing Tips Today

Sam King tipped the winner of Windsor’s feature last night and returns with three selections for this tremendous Tuesday’s action…

There are fewer better places to be on a warm sunny afternoon than Brighton and it seems only fitting we head there for our first selection.

Not many people will be fonder of the seaside venue than I am but one person who just might be is Marcus Tregoning.

The Hampshire-based trainer has saddled a staggering eight winners from his last sixteen runners at Brighton and I'm fully expecting Royal Blaze to get off the mark in the Bresbet Rewards Loyalty Restricted Maiden Stakes at 2.20.

The son of Muhaarar looked in desperate need of the experience when fifth on debut at Goodwood having run green throughout. He should be plenty more streetwise this afternoon with that run under his belt and an RPR of 78 already sets a decent standard for the rest to aim at.

The winner of that contest looks Royal Ascot bound and the runner-up has won comfortably since. It's fair to say this will not take as much winning and it looks like a nice opportunity for the Marcus Tregoning-trained colt to get off the mark at the second attempt.

Selection: Royal Blaze – General 5/4

Our second wager of the day also comes from Brighton and I'm hopeful George Margason can enjoy some seaside success with Twilight Guest in the Download The Bresbet App Handicap at 3.50.

It's possible he failed to stay 1m3 ½ f when fifth at Yarmouth at the beginning of the month, but he shaped much better than the bare result and travelled well throughout the contest for a long way.

That said, it's the form of his third-place finish over a mile at Southwell beforehand that really catches my eye. The Twilight Son gelding perhaps would have finished runner-up but for being bumped a furlong out. The form of that contest has worked out well for the level with the second, fourth, and fifth-placed horses all scoring on their respective next outings and with the drop back to 1m2f likely to suit a bold bid should be on the cards.

Selection: Twilight Guest – General 3/1

We head to Scotland for our third and final selection. Ayr plays host to a competitive little evening card and Whatacracker looks like a decent enough bet at the current prices in the Make Memories At Western House Hotel Handicap at 7.35.

The Mark Walford-trainer runner caught the eye despite only finishing fifth over a mile at Haydock 18 days ago. Slowly away on that occasion, he never looked positioned to be competitive following that tardy start but kept on pleasingly under pressure to pass rivals in the closing stages. He looked to be doing all his best work late on and the step up to 1m2f on this just his third handicap outing will surely bring about some further improvement.

The Mark Walford team have saddled four winners in the last 14 days, so the yard is ticking along nicely. He takes on some more exposed rivals here and with a 2lb drop in the weights another positive I'm expecting him to go close dropped to Class 6 company for the first time.

Selection: Whatacracker – General 13/2
