Aidan O’Brien looks to have another smart juvenile on his hands following a quite taking debut success from Pearls And Rubies (3/1) at Navan this afternoon.
The nicely-bred daughter of No Nay Never looked in need of the experience for much of the contest but was kidded into the race under hands and heels riding by Ryan Moore. She took some time to find her stride but was doing all her best work at the finish and came home strongly to just get the better of the 6/5 market leader I Am Invictus, who finished second to O'Brien's Coventry Stakes-bound River Tiber on debut.
The 3/1 shot showed a good attitude first-time-out and eventually came home a neck in front.
A step up to 6f could be in order at Royal Ascot with Pearls And Rubies being introduced to the Albany Stakes market at a general 14/1.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien said:
We thought she was very smart, we had it in our head could she be an Ascot filly.
"Obviously, she needed experience badly. We came here to see if she would be forward enough for Ascot. Ryan rode her accordingly and left her alone and educated her. She could be an Albany filly.
"She has won there and doesn't even realise she has raced yet. She just kept coming and finished off very strong.
"She's obviously a filly with plenty of class."
Cadeau Belle remains unbeaten by landing Listed prize
Johnny Murtagh looks to have a nice filly on his hands after Cadeau Belle (9/1) backed up a promising debut success with a slick win in the Listed Darley Irish EBF Kooyonga Stakes at Navan.
Held up in rear under Ben Coen the daughter of Harry Angel made smooth headway into midfield approaching the two-furlong marker and showed a nice turn of foot when lengthening away for a one-and-a-quarter length success. William McCreery's Cigamia (7/2) stayed on nicely to fill the runner-up spot with the JP McManus-owned Didn'thavemuchtodo (9/2) finishing a further two lengths behind in third.
Elsewhere on the card, there was further Ballydoyle success as Canute made amends for his luckless defeat at the Curragh in May with a smooth victory in the 1m2f Royal County Handicap.
Ryan Moore always looked content on the son of Quality Road who lengthened his stride nicely for a comfortable one-and-a-half length win.
