Peter Fahey is eyeing the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival for Peregrine Run after his Grade Two victory at the track earlier this month.
The King's Theatre gelding struck in the Neptune Investment Management Hyde Novices' Hurdle and a return to Prestbury Park in March is the main aim for the six-year-old.
Fahey feels stepping up to three miles will bring the best out in Peregrine Run and a prep race at Warwick in mid-January is a possibility depending on ground conditions at the time.
"He came out of the race perfect, travelled home well and everything went well," said Fahey.
"He's on a small break at the moment and will have a couple of easy weeks before we bring him back in and train him for a race at Warwick in mid-January.
"There is a Grade Two novice hurdle over two miles and five furlongs for him there. If the ground isn't too bad he'll go there, but if not, there is a fair chance that he could end up going straight to Cheltenham.
"Cheltenham is definitely the aim. There are a lot of good festivals at Fairyhouse, Punchestown and Aintree though.
"The longer the year goes on, the better chance of better ground and if things did happen to turn up very soft at Cheltenham, we'd have no problem sitting and waiting for one of the other festivals.
"If I was calling at it the moment, I'd definitely be saying he was going for the Albert Bartlett.
"I think the three miles will suit him very well the way he stayed at it the last day.
"It's something we'll make our minds up on closer to the time, but I'd be saying the three miles at the moment.
"Having travelled over there already is a huge advantage to him and he learned a lot from it."
