Blue Bayou confirmed the promise of her previous performance to win the German-Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket.
Having come off worse in a three-way photo for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes against Illuminate and Besharah, she was sent off the 7-4 favourite to make amends.
Brian Meehan's filly was settled in last by Dane O'Neill as Marenko and Fireglow set the pace.
O'Neill made his move heading into the final two furlongs but she did not quicken instantly.
Having drawn level, she was made to pull out all the stops by Mark Johnston's Fireglow but edged home by half a length.
Meehan said: "I'm delighted with her, this race was the natural progression from the way she ran in the Duchess of Cambridge.
"She's missed the break twice now but that seems to suit her.
"She's a lovely filly who will just keep getting better.
"I can say she's as good a filly as I've trained, she's a proper filly and was very good today.
"She's in the Rockfel and the Moyglare and she will get a mile.
"She's a class performer and has the right temperament. There's more to come from her, she has the potential to be a Guineas filly.
"We'll take stock next week and take a view where we go next."
