Stepper Point remains on course for the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot after showing no ill effects from losing a shoe at Chantilly on Sunday.

William Muir's smart sprinter pulled off his off-fore plate shortly after the start of the Prix du Gros-Chene but was not beaten far in seventh place behind Muthmir.

"He lost his off-fore shoe. Ryan (Moore) thought he pulled it off at the two pole, but the blacksmith at the start was on the rails and he saw him pull if off and brought it back to us," said the Lambourn trainer.

"I would imagine he was probably feeling it when he got to the two pole, but he still ran a great race and was only beaten three lengths so we have to go forwards and onwards.

"The horse is fine. He came straight back home, has eaten well and he's got a shoe back on."

Stepper Point was only beaten a length and a quarter by Sole Power in the King's Stand last summer and will now try to go one better in the five-furlong dash at the Royal meeting in two weeks' time.

"The plan was always to go for the King's Stand and that's where he goes next," said Muir.
