Top Notch Field For QEII

Top Notch Tonto has been supplemented at a cost of £70,000 to what remains a top-notch field of milers for Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.

Brian Ellison's chestnut is on a hat-trick after winning a Group Three at Haydock and a Listed race at Redcar but among his 16 possible rivals are 2000 Guineas hero Dawn Approach and his old rival Toronado.

The Richard Hannon camp have already warned soft ground would not be what Sussex Stakes winner Toronado requires, and Olympic Glory would be their more likely runner.

Toronado could instead head for the Breeders' Cup, with the same applying to Declaration Of War, who is one of a trio of contenders for Aidan O'Brien along with Kingsbarns and Magician.

The Group One stars do not end there, as Jonathan Pease has confirmed his Prix du Moulin winner Maxios and Godolphin's Lockinge hero Farhh still has the event as an option.

Gordon Lord Byron, a progressive top-level performer for Tom Hogan, remains in the mix, while Hannon's Sky Lantern, Mike de Kock's great hope Soft Falling Rain and exceptional filly Elusive Kate are still in the line-up too.

Burwaaz, Caspar Netscher, Gregorian and Leitir Mor complete the field.
