Plans for multiple Equus Award winner Legislate are uncertain after he was a late scratching from his comeback race at Greyville last Saturday.

Legislate was due to have his first start since finishing last in the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate at Kenilworth in January but had to be withdrawn from the G2 Drill Hall Stakes over 1400m at the barrier after he got his leg caught up in the back gate after being loaded.

The attending vet took little time deciding that Legislate was not fit to run as he had suffered minor abrasions and appeared a “little ginger” on the leg.

“Fortunately he was quite sensible and did not struggle in the gate,”Sanith said. ”It was just a bit of a lameness but only time will tell.”

Ice Machine, trained by Charles Laird, came home powerfully to easily beat Bouclette Top by three lengths and complete a good day for his rider Anton Marcus after his earlier win in the G2 KRA Guineas aboard The Conglomerate.

Marcus was full of praise for Laird’s training of the classy Ice Machine.

“It was a tremendous training feat by Charles to keep him sound. He’s a very special horse and at weight for age 1600m he can go with the best of them,” Marcus said.

The G2 KRA Fillies Guineas went to the Brett Crawford-trained Alexis who went ahead 200m from home to hold off favourite Inara by two lengths.
