Burridge and Harry Eclipse rivals twice

The Steven Burridge-Eclipse Stable-A’Isisuhairi Kasim team combined for a perfect winning double from Eclipse Splash and Mark Eclipse in the two $60,000 Class 4 races over 1400m at Kranji on Friday night.

Eclipse Splash, the joint $18 favourite with Really Capable in the Division 1 class, ran away a facile winner before Mark Eclipse, also backed down to $17 favouritism, came off a handy spot to win the Division 2 leg.

While the Eclipse Stable can boast absolute 100 per cent success as they had no other runners for the day, Burridge had two others in either race, but was chuffed no end with the results.

“It’s great to see the two Eclipse horses win tonight. The owner is Indonesian, Mr Iman Hartono from Solo, and he has supported me for a while now,” said the Australian handler.

“The Eclipse Stable has a young Irish racing manager named Eoin Sullivan or Sully as we all know him, and who has from the start bought horses for them. Credit to him for having selected those two.

“Eclipse Splash showed great ability at his only start in Malaysia before he came to Singapore where he has already won two races. Mark Eclipse was down in grade and won a nice race.”

Sullivan was indeed delighted he scored a double at Kranji even if he was in Ipoh where he has been based in the last five years.

“It’s great to have a double for Mr Hartono. They are two very nice horses,” said Sullivan.

“I bought Eclipse Splash at the New Zealand Bloodstock South Island Sale as a yearling and as he’s out of a mare named Beach Dance and he has a splash of colour, Mr Hartono decided to name him Eclipse Splash.

“As for Mark Eclipse, he was bought from 888 Bloodstock at the Ready-To-Run Sale in Karaka.”

Besides Sullivan, Burridge also had good words for his former apprentice jockey A’Isisuhairi.

“Harry rides for Eclipse and turned in two great rides tonight. He was my apprentice jockey for three years, and I’m glad he is still part of this association with Eclipse Stable and me,” said Burridge.
