Gwynethanne’s lone appearance at the Riccarton carnival will determine the stakes performer’s future.
The daughter of Handsome Ransom earned a trip to Christchurch for Saturday’s Gr.3 eStar Winter Cup with a last-start victory.
The seven-year-old has been a loyal servant of her Otaki yard with seven wins and included in her 10 minor placings is a runner-up finish in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes behind Lauren Tate and a second in the Listed Manawatu Anzac Mile.
More recently, Gwynethanne finished third behind Winter Cup rival Justlikeyasister at Awapuni and then headed north to Te Rapa where she accounted for the black type winner Biologist.“It’s a Dead 6 down at Riccarton at the moment, but I know there is rain in the forecast and she wouldn’t like anything worse than a Slow 9,” Zimmerman said.
Kelly McCulloch, who won on the mare last time out and was aboard in the Travis placing, rides Gwynethanne.Meanwhile, Zimmerman has the capable Slice Of Class back in work and she will further her spring preparation with an outing at the Foxton trials on August 16.
Unraced since she was out of the money in the Gr.3 Anniversary Handicap at Trentham in January, Slice Of Class’ four wins include the Gr.3 Canterbury Breeders’ Stakes and she was also fourth in the Gr.1 Thorndon Mile.
