Breizh Sky won at Saint-Cloud on Tuesday, delivering an impressive eight-length debut success.
Winning jockey, Simon Planque pushed forward on the son of Pedro The Great who showed plenty of good early speed leading the field after 150m, setting a decent pace. Around ten lengths covered the field at halfway.
Turning for home, there were multiple runners going well and looking dangerous waiting to pounce on the leader. However, the Alessandro & Giuseppe Botti trained two-year-old was still on the bridle travelling strongly, catching the eye at the 500m marker with a one length advantage. Simon Planque asked the colt for more with 400m to go and the response was quick with the newcomer stretching clear in style. He achieved his official winning margin distance of eight lengths with 200m left to run going on to produce an eye-catching debut triumph.
Pedro The Great was a top-class juvenile performer winning the G1 Phoenix Stakes (1200m) at The Curragh (Ireland). Half-brother to the G1 2,000 Guineas (UK) winner Footstepsinthesand he was trained by Aiden O'Brien during his racing career. The promising young stallion stood at Haras de la Haie Neuve however sadly passed away at the age of nine in 2019. One of his notable achievements as a sire was Fatale Bere who was Black type placed in France before winning the G1 Del Mar Oaks in the United States.
