They say every cloud has a silver lining and defeat for Newinn Cloud (9.11) in last week's heats means his price is more attractive heading into the final of the Romford Friday Night 500 Maiden Stayers Final.
A fast start and a clear path for Mark Wallis's dog will have surely seen him post the fastest clock and start odds-on for this 575m decider - and that is no disrespect meant to Farneys Mate who took his chance well seven days ago and will again look to dominate matters early doors inside for 'the Boonmeister' Kevin Boon.
However, the fancy is for Newinn Cloud to come out quicker than last week and take full advantage of a railer next door in Janes Lil Angel and turn in a pitch at the very least before being tough to hold. This trip looks perfect for the strong-running Wallis-trained youngster who ran well without luck in the English Puppy Derby at Towcester.
John Mullins enjoyed great success last weekend with Aayamza Sydney running amok to win the Gold Collar - he reappears at Hove tomorrow - and could be on the mark with the Crayford runner-up then Wrighty (9.46) in the closer.
The red-jacketed runner has an ace draw against the fence and, having just missed it in the final last week before pacing up and running a great race in second, the switch back to Romford might be key to him raising his game again having run outstanding races in both the heats and semi-final of the Gold Collar.
Cashen Eliza (9.28) might do for backers in the Jet Watkin-Williams Birthday Stakes over 575m. The Mark Wallis-trained runner ran well at decent odds behind a good sort in Bombay The Joker at Towcester last week and her leadability claims just hold sway in this six-bend contest.
Yahoo Megan (7.44) was another runner to star at Crayford last week when winning the Kent Rose Bowl and the Patrick Janssens-trained in-form sort can strike in a bitches contest over 400m. The inside pitch looks good to beat the likes of the also in-form pair of March On Mini and Bacon Roll to the punch.
Other fancies at Romford tonight are Patrick Janssens' interesting newcomer The Other Coco (6.37) in the opening 575m contest after decent trials and smart Irish lines; Paul Young's speeder Bombay Jupiter (6.53) in the sprint plus Cairo King's sprint pace might seal a winning lead early in heat one of the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard.
Go with Breaghmore Paudy (8.36) in heat three, although Miami Bullet is an interesting runner here on return, while Dan Brabon's King Presley (8.54) gets a narrow vote to reverse form with Farneys Maisie in the Romford Friday Night 500 Maiden Final.
