Gold Luck (Redoute’s Choice x Born Gold, by Blushing Groom) was sent off favourite in in a 1600m event at Maisons-Laffitte with trainer Freddy Head holding high expectations for the filly.

Gold Luck, trained by Head for her breeders Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, settled in third position where she raced comfortably until asked to extend in the final stages by Maxime Guyun. She responded generously to score by a head.

"I'm very happy with her. She wasn't fully tuned-up today and I think she can make plenty of progress from this,” Head said.

"We'll leave her through the winter now in the hope she turns into a good filly. She handled herself very well.”

Gold Luck is the 13th winner out of the remarkable Blushing Groom broodmare Born Gold, celebrated as the dam of five Group winners led by Goldikova.

Goldikova’s 17 wins included 14 at G1 level, notably three Breeders' Cup Mile victories.

Gold Look’s other notable progeny include the G1 winner Galikova and G3 winners Gold Round, Gold Sound and Anodin.

Redoute's Choice has now notched six winners from the first of two crops he conceived during his stint at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France.

His other successful 2YOs in Europe this season are the colts Celestial Spheres and Colibri and the fillies Deep Inside, Greshnitsia and Kazaroza.
