# AIDAN O’Brien’s 2YO filly Ballydoyle (Galileo x Butterfly Cove by Storm Cat) became the 52nd G1 winner for her sire in the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on Sunday.
“The ground was just what she wanted and Aidan thinks she’s a very, very good filly,” said co-owner Michael Tabor.
Fresh from a runner-up finish in last month’s G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh, Ballydoyle had won the G2 Debutante Stakes in August.# ULTRA (Manduro x Epitome by Nashwan) extended his unbeaten career record to three wins and led home a Godolphin one-two winning the G1 Jean-Luc Lagardere for 2YO colts. He is the fifth G1 winner by Manduro (Monsun) and gave trainer Andre Fabre a fourth win in the race and first since 1995.
“He’s a real nice horse and another Group 1 winner by Manduro, who I trained,” Fabre commented. “He’s done everything right and is bred to stay next season so will not be seen again this term.”# GALLANT filly Covert Love (Azamour x Wing Stealth by Hawk Wing) added the G1 Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp to her G1 Irish Oaks win of earlier in the season.
A bargain €26,000 purchase from the 2013 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, Covert Love also finished second in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks in August.
“I’m lost for words,” said Palmer. “My God, she tries. Three times I thought she was done in the straight but she found, found, found. I can’t say much more.”“The world is her oyster now. I am very happy that she will stay in training next year but she could possibly run again in the British Champions Fillies & Mares at Ascot or the Breeders’ Cup.”
# GOLDREAM (Oasis Dream x Clizia by Machiavellian) notched his second G1 win of the season, adding the Prix de l’Abbaye to his King’s Stand Stakes win at Royal Ascot in June. The Robert Cowell-trained gelding will now target the G1 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan next March.
# ANDRE Fabre’s Make Believe, a 3YO colt by NZ-based shuttle sire Makfi, won his second G1 race when landing the Prix de la Foret. He is one of two G1 winners by the son of Dubawi, who is standing at Westbury Stud and returns to Haras de Bonneval in France in 2016.Make Believe, a possible starters in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile, had turned the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains into a procession at Longchamp in May prior to a Royal Ascot flop.
“He was very tired after the St James’s Palace, so maybe he had a harder race than we thought in the French Guineas but he’s back to his best now,” said Fabre.“We could think about the Breeders’ Cup Mile, but he stays in training as a 4-year-old.”
# MILLE Et Mille (Muhtathir x Quezon Sun by Monsun) made all the running to land the Prix du Cadran and become the fifth G1 winner for his Haras Du Mezeray-based sire.“This is one of the most beautiful days in my life as my son Yan takes care of that horse and is soon to take over from me,” trainer Carlos Lerner explained.
“He’s a top-class stayer. He will run here in the Prix Royal-Oak and next year we will look at Royal Ascot.”
