Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Just The Judge is to be sold at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale which takes place November 24th - December 4th.
Trained by Charlie Hills to win the 2013 Irish 1,000 Guineas on behalf of owners Qatar Racing and the Sangster Family, Just The Judge will be the first British or Irish Guineas winning filly still in training to be offered for sale since Ravinella who was sold at the 1988 Tattersalls December Sale for 1,400,000 guineas.
An outstanding individual, Just The Judge’s finest hour came at the Curragh where she produced a devastating turn of foot to win last year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas having been narrowly beaten by the four time Group 1 winner Sky Lantern in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket. The daughter of Lawman established herself as one of the best fillies of her generation with an unbeaten two year old career culminating in an authoritative win in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes. In 12 career starts to date Just The Judge has won or been placed nine times, five of those at Classic or Group 1 level, and amassed almost £400,000 in prize money. Her latest start saw her finish less than a length third behind Euro Charline and multiple Grade 1 winner Stephanie's Kitten in the Grade 1 Beverley D. Stakes with four other Grade 1 winners behind her. Her next intended start will be in the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine this coming Sunday 19th October.
Purchased as a yearling by Charlie Hills and Adrian Nicoll of the BBA Ireland, Just The Judge combines Classic winning form with a high class pedigree. She is third foal out of the Rainbow Quest mare Faraday Light, who is a half sister to the Group 3 winning Oaks placed filly High Heeled out of the multiple Grade 2 winning mare Uncharted Haven.
Commenting on Just The Judge, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
“Just The Judge is an outstanding race filly with a top class pedigree and is still performing at the very highest level. She is a very enticing prospect both to race on and also as a breeding prospect to grace the very best broodmare bands in the world.”
David Redvers, on behalf of part owners Qatar Racing added;
“Just The Judge will always have a special place in our hearts as the first Classic winner to carry the Qatar Racing colours. Her win in last year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas was a wonderful day for us and our co - owners the Sangster family. We strongly believe that she will continue to perform at the highest level and of course she will always be a magnificent addition to any breeding operation."
