The expectation over the offering of the classic filly Glorious Sight at Arqana's Arc Sale did not disappoint as she sold for €1.7 million on October 1.
The filly by Singspiel from Zelding (Warning) sold to Oceanic Bloodstock.
A product of Kilfrush Stud and related to Immortal Verse (Pivotal), Glorious Sight has considerable residual value even without placing in two classics this year.
A descendant of the matriarch Mill Princess opened her black-type account in Longchamp's Listed Prix Finlande in April and was second in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and then third in Chantilly's G1 Prix de Diane in June.
Also fourth in both the G1 Prix Saint-Alary and G1 Prix Jean Prat, she was offered on the eve of her appearance in the G1 Prix de l'Opera de Longchamp on the Arc program.
Michel Zerolo of Oceanic revealed that she had been bought for Andreas Putsch, who owns Haras de Saint Pair in Normandy.
"She was obviously the horse of the sale, and such a pedigree comes around at public auction once in every 10 or so years, so we didn't want to miss out," Zerolo commented.
"She is such a good filly. Ultimately Mr. Putsch will breed from her.
“She will run in her new owner's colors and everything is possible. She could race on afterwards or
be retired. All will be decided after she runs."
Despite the inevitable late withdrawals the ARC sale gross almost doubled and the average of €218,862 was up by 51%.
The median of €140,000 also increased by 47% on 2010.
