Grand Stakes Win For Redoute's Choice

Champion sire Redoute's Choice posted his 68th individual stakeswinner when Grand Jardin won the $80,000 R.S. Crawford Stakes at Ascot in Perth.

It was the 5YO gelding's fifth win from 17 starts for his owners, who include Keith Biggs, Rod Russell, John Jones and Elio Galante.

Bred by John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds, Grand Jardin was sold for $1.7 million at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and was originally trained by Lee Freedman in Melbourne, before transferring in 2009 to the Bruce Watkins stable in Perth.

Grand Jardin is the sixth stakeswinner by Redoute's Choice this season, following G1 King's Rose, G2 Rekindled Interest, G3 Drumbeats, SW Milestone and SW Kittens.

He is also the 15th stakeswinner from Redoute's Choice's 2005 crop, which is headed by Group 1 winners Samantha Miss, Gallica and Allez Wonder.

Grand Jardin (ex Liberty Rose by Royal Academy) is a brother to the talented 3YO filly Pontiana, winner of two races from three starts this season.

Their stakes-winning Group-placed dam foaled a colt by Redoute's Choice in August.

Seventeen yearlings by Redoute's Choice are catalogued for the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and five of them will be offered in the Arrowfield draft.
