Starcraft colt makes $140,000 from Miranda Park draft.
With the current plan for John Moore set to return to the Australian training ranks after this tenure with the Hong Kong Jockey Club comes to an end at the end of this season, Symphony Lodge were at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale on Tuesday - guided by John's brother Gary - in preparation for his sibling's return.
The first purchase came when they parted with $140,000 for Lot 1 - a colt by Starcraft (Soviet Star) from the Miranda Park draft.
Gary said he thought the colt was one of the stand-out yearlings on the ground and was also attracted to the female side of the family.
"We've got to get going as brother John is coming back to train in Australia - that is the latest - but that changes every week," Gary Moore told Racing.com. "He will be a nice addition to his stable with my assistance.
"I thought he presented well, with a lovely temperament and he looks like he'll go early, when you look the dam has won six races straight. He also came off a great stud farm also - I have liked him since day one. The dam is by Nadeem, who we have had a lot of luck with through Happy Galaxy and I thought he was one of the best horses on the ground.
On the price-tag for the colt, Moore commented: "We probably had a little more, brother John really liked the colt when we presented the video and the photos to him. You have to pay that sort of money for nice colts these days, look at all the sales they have been very expensive."
The colt is the first foal out of the six time-winning Nadeem (Redoute's Choice) mare Nadeem's Melody.
Further afield the colt is from the family of Group 3 winner Vivacious Spirit (Bel Esprit) - the dam of New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago).
