Daughter of Per Incanto sheds maiden tag at Avondale
The Roger James and Robert Wellwood-trained One More Time (3 f ex Aaja Nachle by Fast 'N' Famous) made an eye-catching debut at Avondale on Wednesday as she shed her maiden status over 1200 metres.
The three-year-old daughter of Little Avondale Stud’s Per Incanto (Street Cry) was unchallenged when posting a six length victory over Brimstone (Smart Missile). Silent Zone (Eurozone) was a further three-quarters of a length adrift in third.
“She has shown a lot the whole way through,” James said. “She has been a bit weak but she is handling everything very easily now.
“It didn’t surprise me to see what she did today, albeit I didn’t imagine she would be quite that stunningly impressive, especially given the time she has run.
“She has only gone 1200 metres to this point, so we need to learn a bit more about her before we make definitive plans but it is nice to know that we have got one with rare ability.”
Bought by her trainers for NZ$60,000 from the draft of Prima Park at last year’s New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale, having been purchased up by the Balia Family Trust at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale a year earlier, the filly is out of five-time winning stakes-placed mare Aaja Nachle (Fast 'n' Famous), who is herself the daughter of Listed winner Madhuri Dixit (Famous Star).
In 2018 Aaja Nachle produced a colt by Oaklands Stud-based sire Power (Oasis Dream) who was purchased by Everest Racing for NZ$15,000 at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale, while her 2019 colt by El Roca (Fastnet Rock) was purchased by Warren Drought for NZ$1,9000 via GavelhouseNZ April Online Auction earlier this year and she has most recently been covered by Sweynesse (Lonhro).
Per Incanto is standing for a COVID-19 special price of NZ$15,000 (plus GST).
