Group 1-winning son of Frankel to join roster in 2021
Group 1 winner Without Parole (Frankel) will join the Newsells Park Stud roster for the 2021 breeding season.
Bred by John and Tanya Gunther, the John Gosden-trained son of Frankel (Galileo) broke his maiden on his first start at Newcastle, before following that up with a win at Yarmouth. His first stakes win came when he landed the Heron Stakes (Listed, 1m) at Sandown, while his finest hour came on his next start when he beat a classy field in the 2018 St James's Palace Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) at Royal Ascot.
After being moved to Chad Brown in America, Without Parole finished third at Grade 1 level on three occasions in the Breeders' Cup Mile (Gr 1,8f), Shoemaker Mile (Gr 1, 8f) and the Keeneland Turf Mile (Gr 1, 8f).
“We’re delighted to be standing Without Parole at Newsells Park. It’s no secret that we, like virtually every other global stallion operation, chased this horse hard after his impressive win at Royal Ascot and its fitting he should now retire to the Stud where he was born and raised, said Newsells Park Stud’s general manager Julian Dollar.
“Without Parole is a beautiful horse with an athletic physique and superb conformation. As his race record states, he’s an out and out miler who possesses a great turn of foot. Importantly, he has a potent, proven sire’s pedigree which should offer breeders plenty of options. He’ll certainly be heavily supported by Newsells Park and of course his Eclipse-award winning breeders, John and Tanya Gunther.”
Without Parole is out of unraced Lemon Drop Kid (Kingmambo) mare Without You Babe, whose five foals to race have all been winners and she is also the dam of Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (Gr 1, 8f) winner Tamarkuz (Speightstown) and Listed scorer She’s Got You (Kingman), while she is also the grandam of stakes winner Best Of Me (Super Saver).
Without You Babe is herself a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Stay Thirsty (Bernardini), Grade 3 scorer Andromeda’s Hero (Fusaichi Pegasus) and stakes winner Superfly (Fusaichi Pegasus).
“Without Parole has given me the most memorable and exciting day of my life with his victory in the St. James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot,” said John Gunther. “It was my biggest dream come true and I continue to be overwhelmed by the heart and perseverance he has shown with his racing pursuits in America.
“He has raced in 12 consecutive Grade 1s and faced myriad traffic obstructions, at times unsuitable turf conditions and he just never gives up, as demonstrated again by his third place finish in the prestigious Shadwell Turf Mile. I love this horse and can’t wait to breed to him.”
