Share in WFA star won’t change hands, but Group 1 producer sells for $545,000.
The share in Mr Brightside failed to reach reserve, but there were still some good results in the Inglis Digital July (Late) Online Sale, including a Group 1 producer selling for $545,000.
Tahnee Tiara, the dam of this year's Queensland Oaks winner Socks Nation, was offered by Milburn Creek on behalf of Ian Millard and was snapped up by Walnut Farm.
The 10-year-old Commands mare was sold in-foal to North Pacific.
Millard was thrilled with the result, which came about due to a suggestion by Inglis' senior bloodstock consultant Harry Bailey.
"To be honest I wasn't looking to sell her but I was advised by Harry and we decided to test the market and this result is very, very good,'' Millard said.
"It's a wonderful family but I've got three half-sisters to her so it's not like I'm out of the family altogether.
"I was delighted with the way Harry and the Inglis team handled everything and I'm very pleased that she's gone to a great home as well.''
Tahnee Tiara will visit Yulong's Japanese recruit Panthalassa later this year, as will the sale's third highest-priced lot, Miss Antaeus, who also sold to Walnut Farm for $150,000.
Splitting at the head of the top-lots list was Anagain, who sold to Ken Reed and Scott Rossow of Double R Thoroughbreds for $180,000.
Four other lots – Le Parrain ($140,000), Luna Rocks ($130,000), Customized ($100,000) and Not To Be Caught ($100,000) – realised six-figure sums at a sale that grossed $3,824,551.
Multiple Group 1 winner Mr Brightside was the biggest name in the catalogue, but will not feature any new names in his ownership group after the eight percent share being offered was passed-in after failing to get to get to the $280,000 reserve.
