Some of the expected top lots of Day 3 at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale
The Gold Coast Yearling Sale resumes on Thursday when Lots 451 to 690 will make their way through the Magic Millions sale ring.
Below is a look at a handful of yearlings who are expected to be among the day's leading performers.
LOT 454 – WOOTTON BASSETT x AVANTAGE (filly)
The fourth lot of the day should ensure early fireworks with Coolmore's bay filly a member of the first Australian crop of that stud's prized European recruit and the first foal from a multiple Group 1-winning daughter of Fastnet Rock. Coolmore will be keen to see her sell well, having paid NZ$4.1m for Avantage at the end of her racing career.
LOT 513 – FRANKEL x CERCLE D'OR (filly)
The thirst for sons or daughters of the champion English racehorse and sire is extreme in Australia and this Yarraman Park filly out of a half-sister to another European superstar, Golden Horn, provides immense appeal from both a racing and breeding perspective.
LOT 635 – SNITZEL x ENGLISH (colt)
The Arrowfield stallion has already produced one of the stars of the sale, the colt out of Warranty who sold for $1.75m on Day 2, and has some more banner lots to come on Thursday, including Newhaven Park's English colt, the second foal from the two-time Group 1 winner who is the equal highest-mare with progeny on offer this week, boasting a peak Timeform rating of 121. English's first foal, a colt by I Am Invincible, sold for $1.55m at Easter last year.
LOT 644 – EXTREME CHOICE x EUROBOSS (colt)
One lot before Snitzel's $1.75m colt on Day 2, Extreme Choice had a $1.6m colt and the Newgate stallion's colt out of Euroboss, a daughter of Street Boss who was Group 3-placed in America, has been particularly popular at the inspections stage.
LOT 678 – I AM INVINCIBLE x FLIPPANT (filly)
All six of Flippant's trips to the breeding barn have been to catch up with Australia's champion stallion, which is no shock given the type of foals they produce together. Her second foal sold for $2 million at this sale last year and Yarraman Park again has high hopes for this year's filly.
Bidding will recommence at the Gold Coast sales complex from 11am Thursday.
