A look at the siblings to Group 1 winners who will be offered on the Gold Coast
There are many highlights at a Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and ones that always have the spotlight on them no matter their confirmation are those who are siblings to horses who have won at the highest level.
A sister to Sunlight, who won a Magic Millions 2YO Classic in addition to three Group 1 races, will be one of the headline lots of Wednesday's second day, while half-relations to Beauty Generation, Shoals, King's Legacy and Hartnell are among the others to be offered.
Lot 155: The seventh foal from the Red Ransom mare Movie, who is the dam of 2020 Thousand Guineas winner Odeum (Written Tycoon). The Newhaven Park-prepared filly is by Capitalist, who is a son of Odeum's sire, which makes Lot 155 a three-quarter-sister to Odeum.
Lot 399: The Widden Stud-prepared filly is certain to be one of the sale's might sought-after lots, being by Zoustar out of Solar Charged, which makes her a sister to Sunlight, whose first big win came in the 2018 Magic Millions 2YO Classic before banking Group 1 wins in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Newmarket Handicap and Manikato Stakes.
Lot 435: Rosemont Stud is selling this filly, who is by Exceed And Excel out of the Bel Esprit mare Stylish Bel. She has had nine foals, only three of whom have raced, but one of them is Beauty Generation (Road To Rock) who is one of the all-time greats of Hong Kong racing. He won the Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup three times and the Hong Kong Mile and Champions Mile twice each, along with numerous other Hong Kong features.
Lot 477: The chestnut colt, who will be offered by Arrowfield Stud, is a half-brother to three-time Group 1 Shoals (Fastnet Rock), being by Written Tycoon out of the Hussonet mare The Broken Shore, who is a half-sister to champion colt Redoute's Choice and other Group 1 winners Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors.
Lot 519: Followers of South African racing will be familiar with the deeds of Run Fox Run (Foxwedge), winner of the Group 1 Kenilworth Cape Flying Championship. She is the star product of General Nediym mare Victory Cry, whose Deep Field colt will be offered by renowned South Australian nursery Mill Park Stud.
Lot 589: By Snitzel, this Arrowfield Stud filly is out of South African mare Alexandra Rose (Caesour), who is the dam of American Group 1 winner Oleksandra (Animal Kingdon).
Lot 667: Also by Snitzel, but a colt, this Baramul Stud-prepared youngster is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Bislieri, who has had seven foals to race, all of whom have won. Best of them to date has been Sofia Rosa (Makfi), who was New Zealand's Champion 3YO Filly of the Year, thanks in no small part due to a dominant win in the ATC Australian Oaks at Randwick.
Lot 682: Segenhoe Stud will produce this colt, who is by Zoustar out of the Hussonet mare Breakfast In Bed – a half-sister to Oohood who also counts Not A Single Doubt in the family – which makes him a half-brother to ATC Sires' and Champagne Stakes winner King's Legacy, who now stands at Coolmore for $33,000 a serve.
Lot 690: Segenhoe's Blue Point colt is out of the Canford Cliffs mare Bumbasina, who has only had one foal to race – Amelia's Jewel. That daughter of Siyouni has been a star from the time she hit the track and in December won the Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m) at Ascot in Perth.
Lot 731: Cleanup, a daughter of Dehere, has had five named-foals, all of whom are winners. The best of them is Nettoyer (Sebring), winner of a Doncaster Mile and Queen Of The Turf at the highest level. Vinery Stud will offer this half-sister, who is by Exceed And Excel.
Lot 778: Debonnaire's best product, Hartnell, was conceived in Europe, but the daughter of Anabaa has been in Australia for three seasons now and the Zoustar filly that will be offered by Arrowfield Stud is her first foal born in Australia. Hartnell was a star for Godolphin after being exported to Australia, winning four Group 1s from 1400m to 2400m and placing in a Melbourne Cup and Cox Plate.
Lot 779: Following Hartnell's half-sister is a colt by Pierro out of Deedra, which makes him a half-brother to Vinery Stud Stakes winner Fenway. Deedra, who is by Zabeel, is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Tuesday Joy and Sunday Joy, who is the dam of More Joyous. Those latter horses all carried John Singelton's Strawberry Hill colours and that is the farm offering lot 779.
Lot 834: One of Alabama Express's headline mares in his first season was Street Cry mare Erato, a half-sister to Impending who is the dam of Blue Diamond winner Lyre (Lonhro), and the resultant filly will be offered by Yulong.
Lot 880: The colt Robyn Wise will offer as Lot 880 is also by a first-season stallion, Zousain, from a mare who has thrown a Group 1 winner. American mare Forget The Weather, who is by Stormy Atlantic, produced Bella Vella after a visit to Commands with that mare's crowning glory coming in the Robert Sangster Stakes.
Lot 931: Whoever buys Corumbene Stud's Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot and Hell It's Hot will be happy if she emulates her famous half-sibling's racetrack deeds. In Her Time (Time Thief) is the standout product from the Zeditave mare Hell It's Hot, having won a Black Caviar Lightning and a Galaxy.
Lot 966: Sword Of State's Australian campaigns were thwarted by wet tracks, but the son of Snitzel had no such problems in New Zealand, where he was the champion juvenile of the 2020/21 season, in no small part due to a brilliant win in the Sistema Stakes. He is out of the Encosta De Lago mare In The Vanguard, who has a filly by Merchant Navy that will be offered by Newgate Farm.
Lot 968: Just a dozen lots from the end of the Saturday night session, which rounds out Book 1, Silverstream will offer a colt by Written Tycoon out of the Hussonet mare Inca Lagoon, who is the dam of Hong Kong Chairman's Sprint Prize winner Ivictory (Mossman).
