3YO features the aim with half-sister to Zouzarella, by So You Think
Victorian trainer Liam Howley has added a half-sister to Zouzarella to his stable after winning the battle for the daughter of So You Think on Day 2 of the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
Howley and Andy Williams Bloodstock paid $320,000 for the filly who was prepared for sale by Sullivan Bloodstock.
She is the third foal from the Al Maher mare Zazparella, whose only other filly to race is Zouzarella (Zoustar), who last spring won the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) and started $5.50 second favourite in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).
That was only part of the appeal to Howley and his client.
"She's just a real athlete, she's very, very correct and I couldn't fault her physically," Howley said.
"The page is an added bonus but for me she just looks like a racehorse. She's ready-made, she's balanced, I looked at her a couple of times early and she didn't bat an eyelid.
"I'm hoping she's a Classic-type filly. She looks a real three-year-old in the making, but I think she's forward enough and strong enough, and she's got that So You Think shoulder, that she can hopefully be an autumn two-year-old having a look around and then come back ready to go (at three)."
Howley, who trains out of a property at Pipers Creek, near Kyneton, said the filly was bought for an existing client who is looking to expand their broodmare band.
"He's a commercial breeder looking to build his broodmare band and we've got a few other partners involved," he said.
"She's got the right pedigree, it's very active and very commercial and she wouldn't have looked out of place at Easter."
Howley was active in the middle part of Day 2, going to $120,000 for a Toronado colt around 30 minutes after his initial purchase or the sale.
The Hollylodge Thoroughreds-offered colt is the third foal from the Onemorenomore mare Alittle Loose, who is a half-sister to Listed Debutant Stakes winner Kiki Express.
