The 2019 Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m)-winner Shraaoh (Sea The Stars) has died overnight during surgery for colic, with the Chris Waller stable reporting the news on Sunday morning saying the ‘gentleman’ gelding will be sadly missed.

The Group 1-winning stayer had returned to racing in the autumn after previously overcoming another serious bout of colic.

The imported stayer recorded four wins and eights placings from his 28 starts, earning $1,619,398 in prizemoney.

The eight year-old owned by Australian Bloodstock had two runs already this autumn including a nice first up fifth behind Toffee Tongue (Tavistock) in the Sky High Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) before an unplaced run in the Tancred Stakes (Gr 1, 2400m).
