Second Australian winner for Cable Bay

Stakes options lie in wait for Neville Parnham-trained Flying Missile

Woodside Park Stud shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) sired his second winner in Australia when the Neville Parnham-trained Flying Missile (2 f ex Magnus Missile by Magnus) landed the Glenroy Chaff Plate (1100m) at Ascot on Wednesday.

The two-year-old filly had been placed in all three of her previous starts and she finally got her head in front when she impressively beat Plemont (Rommel) by three lengths, while Rising Commodity (Super One) was another nose away in third.

Parnham said the filly would now head to the Karrakatta Plate (Gr 2, 1200m) at Ascot on April 3.

"I was very confident she would win," Parnham said.

"She will go straight to the Karrakatta now, and she will make her presence felt.

"I think she is the best (of our two-year-olds). She is very speedy, has a real will to win and doesn't give up. That will stand her in great stead.

"The way the Karrakatta is shaping it looks like the barriers are going to be very important.

"If she draws a barrier, I'm sure she will be in it for a long way. I'm not worried about the 1200 metres. While she is speedy, she will run it right out. I'm confident of that."

The filly is the first winner from two foals to race out of five-time winner Magnus Missile (Magnus) and she is a daughter of unraced O'Reilly (Last Tycoon) mare Siuya, who is herself a half-sister to Group 2 winner Scaredee Cat (Tale Of The Cat).

Further back this is the same family as Group 1 winner Kinjite (Centaine), Group 2 scorer Icepin (Pins) and Listed scorer Frozone (Reset).

In 2019 Magnus Missile produced a coly by fellow Woodside Park Stud stallion Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon), while last spring she foaled a filly by Lean Mean Machine (Zoustar) and she has most recently been covered by Playing God (Blackfriars).

Flying Missile joins Habib as Cable Bay's other winner in Australia, while he has sired 63 winners worldwide, including three stakes winners, headed by Group 3 winner Liberty Beach.
