First starter Cavalry Rose landed big bets with her debut win in the Inglis Classic at Rosehill on Saturday.
Opening at $3.50 she was crunched into $3.00 by TAB Sportsbet punters in what turned out to be a strong betting race as there was also big backing for the runner-up Diamond Earth.
Some strong money came late for Diamond Earth ($15,000 worth of bets @ $3.50 within 2 minutes) however after leading she was collared on the lione by the promnising Cavalry Rose.
At Flemington the late money was on the mark for First Command in the Listed Kensington Stakes.
Bets of $3000 @ $5.50, $2000 @ $5.50, $1600 @ $5.50 and $2000 @ $5.50 late in betting all hit the mark as the Steven Arnold-ridden galloper held off the fast-finishing favourite Weekend Special.
Decircles, well tried in early betting markets ($9 into $5.50 at one point), finished third.First Command was $4.60 out to $6 before the late money saw it start at $5 on TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.
