Classic Uniform wins 2017 Hill Stakes Group 2 $500,000 at Randwick (NSW), 1800m.
Classic Uniform went to the front as expected and travelled along particularly well and a quite a reasonable tempo. He picked up the tempo from the 600m, held a good break on turning for home and the fought back gamely to win well, his sixth win and his first at Group level in 35 starts.
Embley had good trip in third place on the rails, got along the inner to challenge at the 200m and then battled on well for second, just finding the winner a bit too good.
The favourite Mackintosh had a good run behind the leader (Classic Uniform), was under riding at the home turn and kept battling on for third after seeming to have had every chance.
