Kenedna wins 2017 The Tab Vanity Group 3 $150,000 at Flemington (VIC) 3yoFillies, 1400m.
The Darren Weir-trained filly Kenedna, racing in blinkers for the first time, advanced quickly in class to win her first stakes race here. She settled in seventh place, one off the rails, commenced her move at the 300m, hit the front at the 100m and then went on to win well.
Extra Olives went to the front, travelled well in the lead, grabbed a break at the 300m and then fought on well for a good second, finding the winner a bit too good over the latter stages.
Harlow Gold was back in second last place in the nine-horse field, tracking the eventual winner. She put in a good run (in the centre of the track) from the 300m and kept running on quite well to take the minor placing.
Of the others, favourite Legless Veuve raced in third place, one off the rails, and then battled on in the straight for (3 lengths) fifth, later being reported to have suffered from internal bleeding while Nurse Kitchen was seventh on the rails, kept battling on nicely in the sprint home and was then blocked over the closing stages to finish (3.9 lengths) seventh in a sound first up effort.
