Listed Quezette Stakes, August 16 - Caulfield

A fit and in form Sabatini scored a thrilling victory in the Quezette Stakes.

Sabatini was ridden quietly by Nick Hall and was last in the ten-horse field in the early stages.

She improved, three wide with cover, approaching the 600m and went to the extreme outside rounding the home turn.

She got to third at the 200m and then finished well to grab a last stride win, putting up a smart performance.

She should appreciate stepping up in distance is a very promising filly.

The favourite Royal Snitzel, a winner of her only two previous starts, raced outside the leader (Sunset Rock), grabbed a break at the 300m and was only overhauled in the closing stages for a good (long head) second.

The well-supported Novel Dancer was trapped wide in the early stages and was forced to travel deep without cover in about sixth place in the mid-stages before moving up (three wide) coming to the home turn.

She challenged at the 200m and then fought on well for a good third after a difficult trip.

London Lolly had a good run, fourth between runners but just kept battling on from the home turn to finish (5 lengths) fourth after seeming to have every chance while Sunset Rock set the pace to the home turn before weakening for (5.1 lengths) fifth.
