Speed Machine To Turn Tables At Kranji

The Any Humour 2010 Stakes Open Benchmark 83 (1000m) on the Polytrack shapes up as a terrific sprint race at Kranji on Friday night and is a good supporting race to the very open feature E W Barker Trophy.

Kratos has continued to race in very good form this campaign, putting two wins together over the 1000m trip before being narrowly denied last start behind Elite Star after leading throughout over 1100m.

The Cliff Brown-trained runner has plenty of early speed and despite not having won past the 1000m trip did show enough over the 1100m last start to suggest he can be winning today.

Drops some 4kg in weight off his last start effort and from barrier six would expect him to be right up in the firing line once again.

All nine career runs to date have come on the Polytrack and he has missed the placings just once which came on debut in the Kranji Nursery Stakes last year.

Kratos comes up against plenty of his competitors from last start and with the drop in weight he will go straight to the lead and prove very hard to get past.

Golden Tomahawk comes out of the same race when third and drops some 5kg off that effort.

Has now featured in the money his last four outings and continues to build a terrific career record with six wins and 16 placings from his 35 starts.

Does his best racing over the 1100m trip with four of his six wins coming over the trip and drawn a touch awkward again today is likely to settle in the second half of the field.

There looks to be plenty of speed up front once again today which will allow Golden Tomahawk the chance to run on in the straight and he will be right in the mix again.

Al Green from the Stephen Gray stable comes through a different formline when third to Golden Curl in a Benchmark 89 last start over 1200m.

Edged out late on that occasion and drops back to the 1100m for this which will suit and also gets back on the Polytack as well.

Has run very similar ratings in all four outings this campaign and if he can run up to that form again today he is certainly right in the mix.

Should settle in a good spot on the speed from barrier four with Glen Boss on board and expect him to be very strong over the concluding stages.

Elite Star must be given some sort of chance on the back of two wins the most recent when beating Kratos and Golden Tomahawk and he drops just the 2kg off that effort.

Will need a lot more luck from the wide draw having drawn inside barriers his last two outings and also meets Kratos and Golden Tomahawk worse at the weights which is against him as well.
