SOUTH AFRICA: Magnolia Belongs To Jackodore

Lightly weighted Jackodore from the Sean Tarry Yard, led from start to finish to capture the R165 000 Grade 3 Magnolia Handicap(1160m) at Turffontein on Sunday.

The daughter of Toreador had won two of her five starts, with a good fourth behind the hugely talented Katy's Lane in the Grade 3 Starling Stakes(1400m) at Turffontein.

Jackodore, Carey's Qui and Waywest Goddess jumped best and were the early leaders up the straight as the field spread right across the track.

Chocolicious from barrier seven was slow away and ended up behind a wall of horses. With 600m to go Jackodore under Robbie Fradd and Waywest Goddess (Fanie Chambers) were still in the lead at opposites side of the track, with Flowers of Spring chasing up the middle.

WayWest Goddess was still in contention at the 200m mark, but started to fade, leaving Jackodore a clear leader out in front. Chocolicious finally managed to find a gap and flew up late, but failed to catch Jackodore and had to settle for second, 0.75L back.

Larussa under Tswaro Appie, came charging up the middle to get up for third a further length back.

Jackodore, by Toreador out of the Shoe Danzig mare I'm All Right Jack, recorded her third win from six starts for owner, Chris van Niekerk.
