Sire Bull Point was represented by his first winner when juvenile Yourpoint won over 1200m at Matamata.
The Kingstar Farm-based sire Bull Point (Fastnet Rock) was represented by his first winner on Saturday when juvenile Yourpoint won over 1200 metres at Matamata. The Jamie Richards-trained gelding was bought for NZ$100,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale Book 1 from the draft of Brighthill Farm by Chris Rutten and is now likely to be aimed at the rich Karaka Million (RL, 1200m) in January, however, he will need to run again before being guaranteed a run in the race.
"It's not going to be enough to qualify this year so we're going to have to go again," Richards said.
"That will be at Ellerslie in the middle of January.
"We've got to give him the opportunity as he's going well although, what ever he does, he is going to continue to get better."
Yourpoint is the fourth foal out of the winning Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) mare Dollhouse. His second dam is Alisa Free (Favourite Trick), the dam of Group winner Unpretentious (Stratum) and a half-sister to Group 1 winner Rockabubble (Bubble Gum Fellow), herself the dam of the Group winner Rock Magic (Redoute's Choice).
Yourpoint races in the familiar colours of owners Chris Rutten, John Norwood and Rod Preston who raced dual Group 1 winning juvenile Yourdeel (Dundeel) from the Richards stable last season before selling him to clients of the David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig stable in Australia.
Bull Point, who stood for a fee of $7,700 (inc GST) in 2019, has 3 lots catalogued for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.
