Canterbury Race 1 – Northern Beaches

It didn't take long (and it certainly wasn't hard) to find this week's one to follow with the dominant Chris Waller/James Mcdonald combo striking in the first with Northern Beaches. Given a lovely steer from leading hoop James McDonald the returning Not A Single Doubt colt didn't have it all go his own way finding himself over-racing for several strides approaching the home turn. Punters' misfortunes continued in the straight when McDonald and his mount were held up behind runners. A desperate change in luck came passing the 200m when the pair were able to burst through a gap and quickly accelerate to hit the front. Maintaining strong momentum Northern Beaches put a good gap to his rivals to score softly by over 2L. With Spring just around the corner this fella is certainly one to keep an eye on.
